Staff was always helpful and caring and provided me with structure and balance to assist in my recovery. I also enjoyed all the extra activities that were planned to keep me busy.

“I write this as I approach my 13th year of sobriety and a bedrock of my recovery foundation was laid during my time at Easy Does It. The mentorship I received from staff I still think of today, lessons that have served me so well in the years of early recovery. The community it have brought me into has also served as an invaluable resource to myself and my family. We are lucky to have an organization like this in our backyard and I will forever be grateful for the time I spent here. In the years of recovery I have also been able to work with EDI as one of their vendors and it’s safe to say they are the client that means the most to me. “

The structure is a blessing, it has enabled me to organize and create a schedule that is conclusive to living a happy sober life. I especially enjoy participating in Soberstock, paddleboarding, and the Men’s Spiritual Breakfast.

When I got to EDI I was welcomed with open arms. Not by just anyone, but by people just like me. They not only welcomed me but taught me there IS a way to LIVE again. This was a program that involved EVERYTHING, not just the alcohol and drugs, but my health, and how I lived.

EDI is a non-judgmental safe place for me. They set a pace I could handle and I enjoyed the structure of the groups and meetings. They also helped me get set up with other organizations that opened my eyes to other areas in my life where I needed help.

"What is for me will be for me." – Martina’s personal mantra.
I had two bouts of homelessness. Was in an abusive relationship. I would have died, but I took a chance on myself. I found myself here. I’m so grateful and I do not–will not–forget where I came from. EDI gave me the space…I stayed and made my way and created the space for myself. The connections that I’ve made with people–there are reasons that you meet the people that you meet. I am me, now. More me than I’ve ever been. I can take everything that I brought with me and be able to share it with the next. Use the time that you have afforded to you here now; don’t squander it. What a great feeling–getting to do the things. My peace is out there, and all you have to do is look at the sky. Every day I walk into the most beautiful sunrises–every day.

My life was absolute chaos; destruction. Despair. Lost everything (once again). Lost my soul. Been through so many rehabs–tried so many times. Didn’t think there was any hope for me.
Was looking for somewhere that was a long-term program. Therapy, Rehab, four months of halfway house; came here because this was a long-range program. Folks here spoke very highly because of it.
They gave me the foundation and the freedom to build a recovery system which I used as a launching pad for the rest of my life.
I came here–had no job, no license, no car, no family. Fines. No hope.
I was able to clear up all the wreckage of my past while I was here, earn a Master's degree, and restore the relationship w/my children and my God–that about sums it up.
They allowed me to be proactive enough that my recovery was individualized to me, but within safe boundaries.
This is a miracle. What has happened here has been a miracle. And I will forever be indebted to the staff at EDI for walking next to me during this journey. Pushing, prodding, lifting me up, giving me the tools and the freedom I needed to continue this journey.

Cheyenne’s Story: Two Years Sober and Thriving
Before coming to Easy Does It, Cheyenne was exhausted from life in addiction. Encouraged by her probation officer to give EDI a try, she found more than just a recovery program—she found a family.
"From day one, I felt supported—not just by staff, but by people who truly care,” she shares. Her Recovery Support Specialist, Mike, and the R3 Program played a major role in helping her reach two years of sobriety. "If it weren’t for the support here, I’d probably still be in addiction.”
Now 43, Cheyenne is in recovery for the first time—and proud of how far she’s come. "I’ve reconnected with my family, gained stability, and I’m just a happier person. I no longer feel afraid of being on my own. I don’t see myself relapsing.”
To others unsure about taking the first step, she offers this: "You won’t be alone here. Everyone is on your side. I came in with an open mind and was met with open arms. EDI gave me a fresh start—and for that, I wake up every day with gratitude.”

Ras’s Story: Reclaiming Life Through Recovery
"My life really began to change when I walked through the doors at Easy Does It," Ras shares, now approaching two years of sobriety. After cycling through shelters and struggling to find stability following rehab, he gave EDI a real chance—and quickly realized it was exactly what he needed.
"Having my own room, doing my laundry, real group sessions—those little things made a big difference." With the stability EDI provided, Ras completed the R3 Program, earned a certificate, enrolled in school, and now works in a skilled trade. "This place gave me the space to grow into a student, into a professional, into someone who could take care of himself."
Ras also overcame depression, learned to cook, and gradually weaned off medication. Most importantly, he found peace in sobriety. "I don’t worry about DUIs or warrants anymore. I’m just in the real world again—and it feels good."
His advice to others: "Don’t fear structure. There’s no party going on without you. Come here. Do the work. It’s worth it."
To Ras, EDI is more than a program—it’s a philosophy. "It’s a civilized way to get back on your feet. It’s not easy, but it’s real. And I’m proud of the man I’ve become."
