Ras’s Story: Reclaiming Life Through Recovery

"My life really began to change when I walked through the doors at Easy Does It," Ras shares, now approaching two years of sobriety. After cycling through shelters and struggling to find stability following rehab, he gave EDI a real chance—and quickly realized it was exactly what he needed. "Having my own room, doing my laundry, real group sessions—those little things made a big difference." With the stability EDI provided, Ras completed the R3 Program, earned a certificate, enrolled in school, and now works in a skilled trade. "This place gave me the space to grow into a student, into a professional, into someone who could take care of himself." Ras also overcame depression, learned to cook, and gradually weaned off medication. Most importantly, he found peace in sobriety. "I don’t worry about DUIs or warrants anymore. I’m just in the real world again—and it feels good." His advice to others: "Don’t fear structure. There’s no party going on without you. Come here. Do the work. It’s worth it." To Ras, EDI is more than a program—it’s a philosophy. "It’s a civilized way to get back on your feet. It’s not easy, but it’s real. And I’m proud of the man I’ve become."
